The course is a dense introduction to a suite/package of digital tools in the definition, generation and articulation towards the creation an architectural product. Using each students’ respective studio project, the course will expand upon ideas and techniques explored through a series of instructional demonstrations, workshops and critiques. These investigations will approach the functions of computer software in such a way as to extract critical approaches to the digitization of architecture. The course aims to focus on simulation, animation, experimentation, modeling and representation as a means to amplify the studio project.
Students question how and why we use digital media in the practice of architecture (in both the profession and academia). Students use various digital toolsets to develop formal generation techniques. These systems will be the basis for projects to be developed throughout the studio semester.
